WOLMED introduces Dr. Charles Willis, MD as its newest OWCP Doctor Dallas.

After a small delay, Dr. Charles Willis, MD is finally starting his first day as WOLMED’s OWCP Doctor in Dallas. Dr. Willis specializes in helping injured federal employees with their OWCP workers comp injuries. DOL / OWCP Workers Comp specialists are rare due to the numerous and complicated rules that must be followed in Federal Workers Compensation. A lot of Dallas/Ft. Worth Medical Doctors choose not to treat OWCP Workers Compensation injuries due to these complications. WOLMED and Dr. Willis have spent many years and undergone a lot of training to be able to help OWCP Workers Comp patients and to become experts in OWCP Workers Comp.

WOLMED and Dr. Charles Willis also contract with a local OWCP Workers Comp Consultant who has over 20 years of direct experience with OWCP as a United States Postal Employee and Union Member. Having this consultant available has been a great service for our OWCP Workers Compensation patients. He’s been so very helpful in establishing their work injury case and making sure all of the proper forms are used and submitted on time.

If you or someone you know has been injured working for any federal agency, be it the Unites States Post Office, FEMA, TSA, IRS, VA, SSA, or any other federal agency, WOLMED and Dr. Charles Wills want to be your OWCP Doctor in Dallas, TX.

We are your OWCP Dallas Doctor.

There is no company doctor for federal employees who sustain OWCP federal workers comp injuries.

We had a new federal OWCP work injury patient who called us a couple of weeks ago because he was hurt while working as a letter carrier for the post office. After he made his appointment to see the doctor, he called back and told us that he was told that he had to go see his company doctor first. What company doctor? He was surprised to learn that the post office doesn’t have a company doctor. The Federal Employee Compensation Act (FECA) allows for any injured federal employee to go to any medical doctor for their OWCP work injury. Fortunately for this man, he was able to come see a WOLMED doctor that is specially trained to help injured federal employees from the United States Postal Service.

The Federal Employee’s Compensation (FEC) program provides Federal employees who sustain work-related injury or illness with benefits such as medical care, wage loss replacement and help in returning to work. The Federal Employees’ Compensation Act, or FECA, (5 U.S.C. 8101 et seq.) is administered by OWCP.

FECA, OWCP, and DOL are very good for injured federal workers comp. They want to make sure that all federal employees who sustain workers comp injuries and illensses are taken care of, get better, and get back to work. You don’t have to go to a company doctor if you are hurt working for a federal agency. You just need to go to a doctor that is specially trained to help people with OWCP Federal Work Injuries.

For many people dealing with pain is a daily occurrence, and the best they can hope for is to just try and manage the pain. There are many small things that one can do to help manage this pain and Wol+Med is here to help provide them to you.

There are many ways to treat and manage pain, Wol+Med hopes you benefit from these tips.

Daily Tip

When we wake up in the morning, our minds and bodies immediately start racing. Like a car in the winter, our bodies have to warm up first, or it will breakdown.

Dr. Robert Oexman, director of the Sleep to Live Institute said that “the greatest incidence of slipped discs occurs within 30 to 60 minutes after we wake up.” He recommended that the first thing that we do before we even get out of bed is stretch our back, for at least 10 minutes. This will help you ease into your day and get the blood flowing faster. Here are 5 recommended stretches to do in the morning to ease your back pain.

More injured workers than ever, from Lewisville, Corinth, and Lake Dallas are choosing WOLMED Denton as their Texas Workers Comp Doctor.

In the same study that told us that a lot of Texas Workers Compensation patients were coming from Gainesville, TX workers comp injuries, we found that more people than ever before are coming from south of Denton too. Along I-35E, 30 people with Texas Workers Comp injuries came from Lewisville, TX, Corinth, TX, and Lake Dallas, TX. Corinth Workers Comp and Lake Dallas Workers Comp are not so surprising. These towns are right next to Denton. That means that Corinth injured workers and Lake Dallas injured workers are very likely to know about WOLMED Denton for Texas Workers Comp treatment. The surprise is with Lewisville, TX Workers Comp injuries. In the past, it seemed like the Lake Lewisville bridge acted like this invisible barrier that kept Lewisville injured workers from crossing over into Denton. After all, Denton is only 10 minutes away from Lake Lewisville. So, we never fully understood why Lewisville workers comp patients didn’t make the short drive north to see a Texas Workers Comp Doctor. That seems to have changed now though and we’re very happy to be able to help injured workers from Lewisville, Corinth, and Lake Dallas with their Texas Workers Comp injuries.

Thank you Lewisville, Corinth, and Lake Dallas for choosing WOLMED Denton for your Texas Workers Comp treatment. We’re very happy to be your Texas Workers Comp Doctor!

There are many ways to treat and manage pain, Wol+Med hopes you benefit from these tips.

Daily Tip

The newest studies show that natural remedies can be just as successful as medications to provide pain relief.

These remedies are cheaper, and can be found in your supermarket.

Mediterranean foods like those eaten by people in Greece and Italy have been found to ease arthritis pain. People in Greece and Italy eat a lot of fruits and veggies, with a focus on lean meat, fish, grains and olive oil.

This diet helps them keep a healthy weight and stronger joints. By integrating these foods in to your diet you can reduce your weight, and in turn reduce arthritis and joint pain.

As of today, there are 72 days until summer. To maintain a healthy weight is a struggle all year round, but we always gear up to look our best for summer.

It seems we spend time thinking about getting to the gym and working out, or going outside and exercising, but something always prevents us from doing it. My trainer always said “thinking about going to the gym burns 0 calories.” To lose 1 lb, you must have a calorie deficit of 3500 calories. That sounds like a lot, but if you break that down over a week it is only 500 calories a day, which most people can do with only a little bit of effort.

The health benefits of a healthy body and lifestyle are evident to most people, but the mental and emotional benefits are not.

Exercise increases dopamine. This is the chemical in the brain is responsible for happiness. Exercise is directly responsible for a better mood, and makes you happier.

Once you are start exercising you will notice a change in your body shape. But you will not be the only one who notices… Getting complemented on your looks, will give you a permanent smile for the rest of the day

WOLMED understands how a positive attitude can affect the patient and their work ethic.

Positive thinking can help ease your pain, and help you heal. Exercise and Positive thought is the path of having a good day everyday and a fantastic summer.

If you are reading this article, you’re probably experiencing pain at some level, but don’t know if pain management is an option for you. The best way to figure out this conundrum is to first classify the different types of pain. With classification comes clarification, which in turn helps you understand that pain management can help you, and that you don’t have to suffer in pain alone. Let’s start of by defining what pain is.

Pain: The International Association for the Study of Pain calls pain “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage”.

Now that you know the definition for pain, let’s classify the two types of pain to better understand which type you may have.

Acute Pain: The Harvard Medical Dictionary defines it as “Severe pain that occurs suddenly and usually lasts a short while.” Many doctors classify pain as acute when pain last less than 30 days.

Chronic Pain: Wikipedia defines it as “pain that has lasted for a long time,” or “pain that extends beyond the expected period of healing.” The two most commonly used markers doctors use to determine if pain is passing from acute to chronic is between 3 to 6 months since onset.

Now that you understand the difference between acute pain and chronic pain, let’s review other ways to classify pain by the kind of damage that causes it.

Tissue Damage: Also called nociceptive pain, The Richeimer Pain Medical Group states “Nociceptors are the nerves which sense and respond to parts of the body which suffer from damage.” This type of pain can occur from “sprains, bone fractures, burns, bumps, bruises, inflammation, obstructions, and myofascial pain.”

Nerve Damage: Also called neuropathic pain, Medicine Net states that Neuropathic pain “results from injury to the nervous system.” This type of pain “can occur after trauma or because of many diseases such as multiple sclerosis and stroke.”

Psychogenic pain: Web MD states that “Psychogenic pain most often has a physical origin either in tissue damage or nerve damage, but the pain caused by that damage is increased or prolonged by such factors as fear, depression, stress, or anxiety. In some cases, pain originates from a psychological condition.”

Properly classifying your pain, while not a diagnosis of what is causing your pain, is always helpful in determining if pain management can be an option for you. Your next step should be to visit with a trained pain management doctor to see how they can help ease your pain.
